With deep roots in the metro area, Linda is a long-time resident of Maple Grove with her realtor husband of 15 years and their two children (9 and 5 years old).
Biggest challenge over the next 3-6 months:
Linda’s department is working to centralize the administration of SOX for Medtronic, which is a significant change for the organization. “This is Medtronic’s second centralization effort that I am involved with and I am managing the testing and reporting analysis. It’s fun working with so many people, but it requires a lot of patience and you definitely can’t be conflict avoidant!” Linda finds satisfaction in digging down into people’s requests to truly identify their need, and then developing and implementing the solution.
Exciting things happening for the organization:
Medtronic leadership is moving around and restructuring. “Our finance community is proud to have two recently named division presidents come through the finance path!”
Professional accomplishment of most pride:
Linda was the first person in her whole family to obtain a degree and then pass the CPA exam.
Favorite free-time activity:
When not participating in one of her kid’s activities, Linda enjoys hanging out by a lake, biking or taking in a play at the many theatres around town.
Best advice received:
“Be true to yourself and you’ll make the right decision.”
Favorite restaurant:
“Pittsburgh Blue in Maple Grove offers excellent food and the service is amazing!”
3 things Linda would buy with lottery winnings:
A trip around the world, a shopping spree in New York, and a new car top Linda’s list of dream purchases. “It would be great to have something to drive that isn’t a minivan!”
Best vacation:
Linda and her husband spent ten days in the Grand Cayman during a break between leaving one job and starting another. “I could truly relax without worrying about work and the restaurants and scenery around the island was amazing.”
Something that would surprise people:
When Linda was in high school, she saved up money to pay for a trip to Mexico with other students from her school. “I have great memories of the week I spent with a family, knowing very little Spanish and them knowing even less English. It was a great opportunity as a young adult to get to see how other cultures lived.”
Motto to live by:
Linda believes the Serenity Prayer resonates deeply with anyone involved in change management!
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
What I enjoy most about FEWnet:
“FEWnet is full of energetic, vibrant women who are all making a difference. The annual spring event is a good place to recharge my mental energy and after five years of involvement, I know so many people! Also, I am in one of the best small groups. We have been together for five years and still have a few of the original members.”
