“I have really enjoyed getting to know more people, learning from them, and sharing experiences.”

A Goodhue native with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Minnesota State University – Mankato, Jane is both a CPA and CMA while also holding designations specific to the Securities industry, including being a Registered Representative, Securities Principal, and Financial and Operations Principal. Jane currently lives in Plymouth with her husband, Mark; their three children, Erika (10), Brianna (8), and Brandon (5); and their Yellow Lab, Gunner.

Biggest challenge over the next 3-6 months:

“Finding a comfortable work/life balance has always been difficult for me; working full-time, raising three children, and being very active in my church.” Jane is a singer on the Worship Team, teaches Sunday School, and is on the Personal Finances Ministry Team which is a group committed to helping families manage their finances. “The next three months will be especially challenging as all of our entities have calendar year-ends.” When asked how she manages to succeed in the face of such challenges, Jane credits her husband and mother-in-law’s ongoing support as key to keeping the family running on all cylinders.

Professional accomplishment of note:

“I was deeply honored to be nominated for the Finance and Commerce Top Women in Finance award, not to mention sincerely surprised and humbled to actually take home an award!”

Favorite free-time activity:

Jane’s cabin in Cambridge is a favorite “run away” destination allowing the family the opportunity to snowmobile, ice fish, and snow shoe throughout the winter months while enjoying boating and gardening in the summer.

Best advice received:

Jane’s high school accounting teacher advised her to consider going into the field after seeing how quickly she was able to understand the work. “I’m so grateful for his guidance because I love being in the field and I am not sure where I would be today if he had not given me that advice. On a personal note, the best advice I’ve ever received is to love and trust the Lord with all of my heart, mind, and strength.”

Favorite book and shop:

“Taking Care of the ‘Me’ in Mommy” by Lisa Whelchel tops Jane’s list of favorite books. Well-known for playing the part of Blair on the hit sitcom Facts of Life, Whelchel’s book is a great tool for women looking for guidance on how to be a better wife and mother – mind, body, and spirit. “I’m still working on implementing many of the great tips found in this book and I highly recommend it!”

Jane’s favorite place to shop is LuLu’s Webtique. “Lulu’s is full of fabulous, new and gently used designer handbags, clothes, and accessories. It is owned and operated by women that have been personal shoppers for many years. Great prices combined with the personal shopper experience make this a top shopping destination for busy women who want to look their best without spending a ton of money and time working at it.”

3 things to do with lottery winnings:

“Believe it or not, I have never thought about what I would BUY if I won the lottery, but what I would DO with the money, which is donate most of it. However, I don’t think about this too much because I never buy tickets.”

If I didn’t need to work today, tomorrow, the rest of my life:

“Tomorrow morning you would find me reading a book, sipping on coffee, and relaxing to music playing softly in the background.” Jane guiltily admits to being in the middle of several books right now. “I jump around in my reading materials quite a bit! What I read depends upon what’s going on in my life and what interests me at the time.”

Best vacation:

Jane’s favorite vacation was a family road trip to Vail, Colorado this past year. “We stopped in every state along the way to buy a souvenir and tackled about everything you can think of doing on a family vacation, from horseback riding and mini-putt golf, to gondola rides and bungee jumping!”

Motto to live by:

“Be content with whatever the circumstance…based on Philippians 4:11-13.”

What FEWnet has meant to me:

“I have really enjoyed getting to know more people, learning from them, and sharing experiences.”
